Dove Self Esteem Pj Party!

July 12, 2009

Last night I had the pleasure of working at the Dove Self Esteem Pj Party at Pharmasave. The focus of the event was to show girls (9-15) how beautiful they are and to embrace their individuality.

At the beginning of the evening I was able to make a speech of what I have been doing these past few months for the Miss Teen Canada-World pageant as well as explain my platform. It was so rewarding seeing all of the girls look up to me as a role model and being able to show them just how great of people they are.

The night was filled with fun things that i was able to help out with such as paraffin hand treatments, nail painting, Body Image Fact or Fiction (girls would spin a wheel and then get asked a question related to self esteem and body image, winning a prize if they answered correctly), a bracelet making station and chocolate fondue!

One of the most rewarding parts of the night was seeing the girls breakout of their shells. Many were very shy and timid when I first got to meet them but as the night progressed, they really showed their unique and fun personalities. It actually reminded me of how quiet I used to be at that age and how much i've changed having positive and confident role models throughout my life.

I would just like thank Pharmasave for making this night possible too! It was such a fun event and it was so great meeting each and everyone one of you that came :)

Have a great weekend everyone!
