August 07, 2009

Hi everyone!

So I have gotten home and all I can say is wow! Toronto was the most amazing experience! From the places we went to the people we met it was simply unreal!:) All of this, however, would not have happened without my generous and supporting sponsors. I would like to thank-you for all of your help, it means so much to me :

Toronto!

July 23, 2009

Hi everyone!

So this has been the most amazing first time experience in Toronto! Arriving on Sunday, it was great seeing how all of the contestants got along, it was as if we had known each other forever! Activities that we've had the opportunity to take part in include three television appearances, Hippo Bus Tours, seeing the CN Tower, and even being guests at the Faze Magazine party! Everyone has been so friendly and I can't wait too see what the rest of the week will bring :)

Until next time,

Jessica

There’s a glass floor installed inside the CN Tower that allows you to stand on it and look down towards the surface. It also has numerous activities that would keep children and adults busy. This structure is one of the most visited places in the world. The view will leave you and your family an unforgettable memory.

Dove Self Esteem Pj Party!

July 12, 2009

Last night I had the pleasure of working at the Dove Self Esteem Pj Party at Pharmasave. The focus of the event was to show girls (9-15) how beautiful they are and to embrace their individuality.

At the beginning of the evening I was able to make a speech of what I have been doing these past few months for the Miss Teen Canada-World pageant as well as explain my platform. It was so rewarding seeing all of the girls look up to me as a role model and being able to show them just how great of people they are.

The night was filled with fun things that i was able to help out with such as paraffin hand treatments, nail painting, Body Image Fact or Fiction (girls would spin a wheel and then get asked a question related to self esteem and body image, winning a prize if they answered correctly), a bracelet making station and chocolate fondue!

One of the most rewarding parts of the night was seeing the girls breakout of their shells. Many were very shy and timid when I first got to meet them but as the night progressed, they really showed their unique and fun personalities. It actually reminded me of how quiet I used to be at that age and how much i've changed having positive and confident role models throughout my life.

I would just like thank Pharmasave for making this night possible too! It was such a fun event and it was so great meeting each and everyone one of you that came :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Canada Day!

July 04, 2009

Hi everybody!

I hope you all had a great Canada day :) Every year our town has a celebration at the local civic center with games for both children and adults! The day was filled with fun things including face painting, obstacle courses, Canada day cake and more!

It was neat going to it this year with the title of Miss Teen Skeena Bulkley Valley - World, I felt like such a celebrity! Having people congratulate me and ask to take pictures with me was something I never thought would happen! The highlight of my day, though, was seeing all of the kids have the greatest time! It made me think back to when I was little and just how much fun Canada day was.

One of the things that I really love about Smithers is the way we celebrate holidays like this one. Though there are no fancy parades or large street concerts, it is the little gathering of our town that brings us together which has made Canada Day so unique, and memorable!
